Gaining Perspective

Last week I wrote about returning home after being away and using the experience to gain perspective. Continuing on that theme, what do you when you are feeling stuck and need to get perspective? Here are some ideas I’ve come up with:
  • Get outside – There is nothing like a walk in nature to get a new perspective. Don’t just walk. Notice sounds, colors, scents, and surfaces.
  • Paint, draw, or play with clay. Use paint, crayons, pens, chalk, or clay to express how you are feeling. Let the art materials guide you to a new direction.

  • If you can, spend time with young children. See the world through the eyes of a child.
  • Take out your journal or a piece of paper and write in free form, no rules, no right or wrong way, just start writing without stopping. Don’t worry about punctuation, grammar, spelling, or syntax.
The next time you are feeling stuck or need a new perspective try one of the ideas listed above.

Make notes on what you learned and share your thoughts below.
