Do you go off course?

As you continue to write about your ideal life and notice preferred patterns in your behavior, you might also give some thought to those patterns, habits, and behaviors that take you off course.

Think for a minute about a stately horse pulling a carriage along. Notice the blinders the horse wears. Why? Blinders obscure vision, keep the horse looking straight ahead, not allowing anything to distract its course. While I’m not suggesting you actually walk along wearing blinders, do begin to notice what distracts you and takes you off course. For example:
  • Do you stop and check your e-mail in-box several times a day or whenever you hear the ping of a new message?
  • Does surfing the Internet when you only meant to look up one thing distract you?
  • Do you linger for several extra minutes over the morning newspaper?
  • Do you answer your phone no matter what other activity you are engaged in?
None of these behaviors are inherently wrong. Just notice if they distract you from your priorities.

Stay tuned for more,

I'm trying to quit answering the phone whenever it rings no matter what I'm doing. It's tough to do!
