Do Everything at Once

Last week I proposed a possible solution to “Grace Under Pressure.” Although somewhat radical-- it does work for some people, but certainly not for everyone. What happened when you tried cycling through a variety of tasks, with focused, limited time on each one?

Another possible solution when multiple deadlines are in conflict is to do everything at once. Well, not exactly. You really can only do one thing at a time; but allow yourself to jump from task to task or project to project, at will. Here are some suggestions:
  • Consider which task seems easiest when you sit down to work and start with that task.
  • When you notice your focus or energy is waning, go on to the next easiest thing.
  • Continue to observe your energy; when you get tired or lose focus, move on to something else.
This approach is about giving yourself permission to follow your own natural rhythm. Try it. Experiment with it and let us know how it works for you by responding below.
