Use a “Pie” to Clarify Your Goals

When you think about setting goals, you may feel overwhelmed. Here is one creative way to avoid overwhelm and look at your life in relation to its many components.

Begin with drawing a large circle in the middle of a piece of paper. Divide the circle into eight even slices, as if you were cutting a pie. Label the slices with these areas (or other areas that make sense for you):  Family & Significant Other, Friends, Work or Profession, Self-Care, Finances, Personal Growth & Learning, Spirituality, and Health & Fitness.

In each section of the "pie", rate how happy you are in that area of your life, using a  scale of 0-10. This will give you a good indication of what areas of your life may need more attention.

In the areas you have rated "5" or less, ask yourself:
  • Do I want to make changes in this area of my life?
  • If so, what do I want to change?
  • What is a simple change I can make in this area?

Take good care,

A simple concept, one that you can do anywhere, but one that can completely change the focus of your time (and maybe life?).

Thanks for the tip Susan!

This really does work Susan. My only suggestion would be to not rush through the process. Allow lots of time to really wrap your mind around each item and you may achieve really stunning results!

All the best,

Jon
