How do you eat an elephant?

Last week we discussed several scenarios that can drain your energy, as well as prevent you from filling your daily bucket well.

The answer to almost every challenge of this nature is to break tasks into small, bite-size pieces. Not new information, right? However, it works!

Try these ideas:
  • Pick one nagging project or task you need to finish and have been avoiding. Estimate the time it will take to complete. Now double the time. Take out your planner and schedule the time, right now! It’s absolutely fine to break it into small work sessions.

  • When you come to your scheduled time, set a kitchen timer for ten minutes. No matter what, work for ten uninterrupted minutes on the project (that means no phone calls, surfing, or texting)! Notice if this impacts your ability to stay focused and on task.

  • At the end of your work session, clean up your workspace. Notice your energy and interest in returning to the work next time.
