Don't Forget the "Why"

How are you doing with breaking your goals into bite-size pieces? Are you finding it helpful to organize tasks this way? I hope this is working well for you. But for just a moment, stop what you are doing and give some thought to what it is you are really trying to accomplish. Here are some examples:
  • The Task: Spend ten minutes each day sorting through mail as it comes into your home or office. File, toss or take the first necessary action step with each piece of mail.

    The Reason: To have a calm, uncluttered environment without piles of papers.

  • The Task: Hang up clothes and put away shoes each day.

    The Reason: You will be able to find clothes and shoes when you need them and will be taking better care of what you wear.
  • The Task: Write one page a day of your novel.

    The Reason: Complete the first draft of your novel in one year
This week, take some time to think and write about the reasons for the tasks you are doing. Ask yourself "Why is this important?" Share what you learn below.
