One of my all time favorite quotations is from the late comedian Gilda Radner. In her 1989 memoir she wrote: “I can always be distracted by love, but eventually I get horny for my creativity.”
While I may not have described my own desire to create quite as colorfully, I completely agree with Gilda Radner’s sentiment. The next time you are feeling grouchy, out-of-sorts, sad, angry or depressed, try doing something creative. Draw, sketch, paint, or write in your journal. Try cooking something you have never made before. Get outdoors and collect wild flowers and make a bouquet. Then notice what happens to your mood.
