Puppies and Happiness

A few days ago I received a large postcard in the mail, marketing coursework in positive psychology. In the upper left corner of the postcard was an adorable dog. The headline read, “If you want to be happy for a day, get a puppy.” The line following read, “If you want to stay that way, practice positive psychology.”

It was clever marketing, but also true. Perhaps you added spending time with a pet to your “101 Things That Make Me Happy” list. (You did start your list, didn’t you?)  As you continue to compile a list of what makes you happy, notice those things in particular that are sustainable activities. That means, those activities you do on regular basis that consistently make you feel happier. My list includes reading a well-written book, journaling, and walking in nature. What’s on your list?

This week, continue adding to your list of 101 things that make you happy. Pay special attention to activities that help sustain happiness. Share your observations below.

Take good care!
