Savoring in the Moment

This month I am writing about savoring as a way to increase positive emotions. This is actually a perfect time of year to discuss savoring, with its many tastes, smells, flavors, and memories. Imagine the following moments:
  • You are eating your favorite ice cream (or cookie, or bread, or soup, etc.). You are so involved with eating, so enamored by the taste of your food, for a moment you lose track of time and space.
  • You are so involved in music you are listening to, so enjoying a film or theatre production that you forget where you are.
  • You are completely engaged in conversation with a friend you haven’t seen in months; you look around and realize you are the only people left in the restaurant.
Savoring means being absolutely present in the moment and enjoying to the fullest whatever you are experiencing. This week pay attention to moments of savoring. Afterwards, write down what you noticed and how you felt.

Share your awareness below.

Take good care!
