Ask for Help

If you are the kind of person who tends to take care of other people in your life, times of crisis may call for a role reversal. Consider these ideas:
  • Don’t be afraid to let people know you need help, even it is just in the form of providing emotional support.

  • Ask for something small if you are more comfortable. For example, “Would you be able to pick up a quart of milk on your way over?” Or, “Could you mail these letters for me on the way to the office?”

  • Generally, people do like to be of help, when they can.

  • Don’t assume someone is unavailable to be of help unless you ask him or her directly.

  • You might be surprised at the unexpected ways in which people can show their love or concern when you let them.
