Here are some immediate solutions to try:
- If you are having trouble settling down and getting started on a task, set a kitchen timer for just five minutes. Promise yourself you will stick with the task until the buzzer sounds (of course, you can work for longer if you choose)!
- Do something every day in service to your project or necessary task. This will help build momentum.
- Build in a reward immediately following completion of your work to establish positive motivation.
- Be gentle and kind to yourself as you learn new ways to manage overwhelm.
Take good care,

"Nothing Succeeds Like Success" is a time-worn phrase that I guess I've been hearing all my life. This simple little gem survives simply because of the wisdom, and many applications it contains...
Whenever I find myself entering the dreaded "black hole of overwhelm" I take a mental (or physical) hike to remove myself from whatever situation is causing stress. When I return, I go directly to the source or cause of the stress, dice it up, and bit by bit resolve each issue.
This little exercise has been successful for me ever since I first heard that little phrase, about 50-60 years ago. :-)
All the best,
Jon
