Write Down What You Accomplished

For the last two weeks, we discussed the value of having a written plan. This week we’ll look at the value of keeping track of what you have accomplished. Young children get smiley face stickers when they finish a homework assignment. You may think that because you are an adult, you don’t need to be acknowledged for your accomplishments. I disagree. Try these ideas for acknowledging what you have accomplished:
  • Keep track of tasks as you accomplish them via a log, notebook, spreadsheet, or an on-line system. As you look at what you have accomplished by actually seeing it written down, it can provide motivation to continue.

  • Noting what you have accomplished in a visual way can help raise your self-esteem or give you a little lift if you are feeling down.

  • If you are feeling resistance or procrastinating getting tasks done, keeping track of your accomplishments may feel like giving yourself “credit.” Once again, this can be very motivating.

  • Tracking what you have completed can be very helpful in planning or formulating new goals.
Let us know what you learned, by taking just a moment to share your experience on below!

Take good care,
