Are Superstitions Random?

Friday the 13th is traditionally known as a bad luck day. Some older multi-story buildings don’t even have a thirteenth floor–it’s simply skipped due to superstition.

But what about superstitions like a black cat crossing your path, or tossing salt over your shoulder if you spill a few grains? Most superstitions are based on history. Consider some of the beliefs you have by filling in the blanks below:
  • People for the most part are _____________________.

  • Good things happen__________________________.

  • Bad things happen___________________________.

  • It’s important to me that______________________.

  • I am fearful (or worried or anxious) about_______________.
This week, experiment with your beliefs, do some writing, and see if you can figure out the history behind your beliefs.

Let us know what you learned by taking just a moment to share your experience below!

Take good care,
