Love, Loss and Laughter

If you have lost a loved one, you may have noticed that as people come together to mourn their mutual loss, there can be laughter in addition to tears. This may seem odd or inappropriate at first, but it is in fact a wonderful and healing phenomenon that occurs during a time of loss. For example, think about the time when your loved one:
  • Told an especially funny story or joke

  • Did something that made you laugh aloud

  • Did something that really surprised you

  • Did something that totally delighted you

  • Used an especially endearing word or phrase
This week, spend a few minutes remembering special moments of laughter or delight you shared with your loved one. Write down what comes up for you. Share what you learn below.
