Savoring Your Future Light

Last week we looked at savoring the past as a way to gather memories that can help light up your internal life. Another way to use savoring is anticipatory savoring. That means, imagining something that is likely to happen in your future. If the darkness of fall into winter has you feeling listless, imagine:

  • What your summer vacation will be like

  • The feel of your toes in the sand at the beach

  • A party or celebration planned for the spring

This is not to suggest living either in the past or in the future, but knowing that savoring can be a healthy way to bring light into a dark time of year.
