Last week I suggested you make a list of what you would like to accomplish this year. This week I suggest you go over each item on your list and look carefully at why each goal is important to you. For example:
- Goal: Exercise five times a week. Why: To improve my overall health, have more energy, and lose weight
- Goal: Find a job that is more suitable and meets my needs. Why: To feel happier, enjoy my work more, and earn higher income
- Goal: Begin keeping a journal, writing at least 10 minutes per day, three times a week. Why: Become more aware of my feelings and thoughts, make better choices, and lower my stress level
- Goal: Re-connect with three friends I haven’t seen for a long time. Why: I’m missing out on important relationships in my life, broaden my social circle, and repair relationships with people with whom I have lost touch.
While this is a good time of the year to make goals, knowing why each goal is important will help you prioritize your time. Share your thoughts below.
