Need vs. Want

There are moments when we do things we need to do, but are not necessarily what we want to do. Here are a few of mine:
  • Unloading the dishwasher
  • Calling the dentist
  • Vacuuming the carpet
There are also moments when we do things, simply because we want to, but we also gain something for ourselves. Here are some things on my list:
  • I frequently make eye contact and smile at people I don’t know in an elevator, in the grocery store, or in passing
  • I pay attention to things going on around me and have been known to be quite silly with babies
  • Make an effort to connect with someone standing alone in social settings
These are just some examples. During the week, notice how you feel when you do things you don’t want to be doing. Also, notice those things you do because you want to do them. Observe how this makes you feel and share your observations below.

Take good care!
