The 10-Minute Solution

Confession:  I’m working on a huge project as part of the graduate program I’m enrolled in. Since I never procrastinate (liar, liar, pants on fire), I have found that when I do actually sit down and do the work, I really do enjoy it.

The hard part is always sitting down and getting started. Here are some ideas that may help you get a move on:
  • Use a kitchen timer, your phone, or another device and set the timer for 10 minutes.
That’s all, just commit to 10 minutes.
  • It’s perfectly fine if you want to keep going after the 10 minutes are up.
  • Schedule the time you will begin and write it in your calendar, as though it’s an actual appointment (it is)!
  • You can do the same thing for exercise. Commit to a 10-minute walk, knowing of course, it would be perfectly fine if you want to continue walking longer.
This week, try applying the 10-minute solution whenever you feel like you don’t have enough time to start a project. Make notes and share what you learned below.

Take good care!
